The normal SAP BW daily activities were broadly differentiated into the following areas:

·         Support. On call for failures, errors and user support requests. This covered failures during the data uploads thru to BW password resets.

·         Maintenance (Warehouse Management). SAP BW system maintenance including performance issues and Transports. In this we worked closely with the basis team

·         AD-Hoc Query Requests (Reporting). User query requests for new and changes to existing reports. These are logged via Solution Manager.

·         New Projects (Modeling and Extraction). Development of new BW solutions i.e. Status Produce

SAP BW functional areas include Data Modeling, Data Retrieval, Reporting and Analysis, BEx, ABAP development for BW as well as SAP Performance and Optimization.

TRANSNET (South Africa)
SAP BW&MM Consultant and SAP Team Leader

Joined the Talota SAP consultancy team as a SAP BW & MM consultant in a support role. The role includes both configuration and user training & support. Talota had the SAP resourcing contract at Transnet Port Terminals and had worked as a SAP Resources subcontractor to arivia.kom for the past 4 years. In January 2008 I was asked to lead the SAP Team responsible for all consultants (x 8) and the SAP landscape at Port Operations.

SAP MM support and User help desk.

Aiding users with SAP queries, issues and training on SAP MM module.

PROJECTS COMPLETED INCLUDE :

SAP ECC 6.0 upgrade project. MM (Materials Management) on the Transnet Port Terminals upgrade to SAP ECC 6.0 project (Start April 2007, Completion August 2007).

SAP MM BPP (Business Process Procedures). Updating of all MM BPP (Business Process Procedures).

SAP Implementation – New Company Code: Full implementation of a new company code for the under construction new Port of Ngqura (Coega Development). Completion December 2007. In addition, all standard modules being used.

SAP Implementation  & Handover – IM & PS Modules: The project was developed and managed by Accenture for all Transnet group companies. Participated as team member in the testing and live implementation/handover as a SAP Support Consultant (required as SAP BW as solution interfaced into corporate SAP BW. Start October, scheduled completion April 2008.

SAP BW local resource : The main BW project was developed and managed at Head Office in Johannesburg. Part of my responsibilities was to act as local BW resource and interface to the Head Office BW team.
